January 3, 2010 - Today the Bad Vato Foundation lost a very dear friend and supporter, Juan Lua. Juan Lua was a person who loved life and was taken from us at a much too early age. We will pray for the Lua Family and extend our assistance upon request for a lifetime. "Juan, que la pases bien, AMIGO!"

June 3, 2009 - Some very bad and unfortunate news. Early this morning, at 12:26am, Mauricio Rivera Senior, 42 years young, lost his battle with illness and eventually lost his life. Mauricio has found a better home with the Lord in Heaven. Mauricio Rivera was an exceptionally good man who accepted the responsibility of being a single parent with full custody of three children. Mauricio Rivera will be deeply missed by all those who were privileged to know him and had been a part of his kind generosity. In memory of Mauricio Rivera, from this day forward, all Bad Vato Foundation activities will be commenced by a prayer in honor of Mauricio Rivera. Additionally, once every year, the Bad Vato Foundation will plan an activity in remembrance and honor of Mauricio Rivera. MAY THE GOOD LORD BLESS US ALL, KEEP US SAFE, AND HOLD MAURICIO CLOSE IN HIS ARMS..... Never say bye, "See You Later Bad Vato Mauricio!!!"

June 1, 2009. As informed, Mauricio Senior had the triple bypass surgery with an additional procedure of a valve replacement. Two weeks later Mauricio Senior had to undergo the same exact surgery for a second time which resulted in a continued coma. Since the first surgery, Mauricio had been non responsive but Family has been at his side. On May 31, 2009 , after a meeting with Mauricios' primary care physician , Mauri Junior and other Family members witnessed Mauricio Senior opening one eye and attempting to move his arm. This was in partial reaction to Family stimulus and prayers. We are hopeful that Mauricio Senior will continue to improve, and the Bad Vato Organization will fully support Mauri Junior in his continued valiant efforts in providing every necessary avenue to his Father. Mauri Junior has been an example of what the Bad Vato Family strives to instill in our youth today. Although Mauricio Senior is slow to react while in coma, I am certain that having his Son next to him day in and day out is a large factor that is strongly felt. The Glamis trip for Mauricio Senior is still on!!! God Bless!!!
